For anyone interested, here is a link to my photos from my 37th year of attending AirVenture. There was quite an impressive turn out of Warbirds in spite of the economy. They had almost 30 C-47/DC-3s and four B-17’s in honor of both respective aircraft,s 75th Anniversary. It was a beautiful sight to see 4 B-17s in the air together.

that was an excellent turn out! where did you say the airshow was held?? This gets me geeked up for the annual airshow here at Offutt AFB.
I also want to know how long it took you to upload all of those pictures. When I load pix on Photobucket, I have to do them all individually…

I went down to the lake last night for my B-day party. Saw 5 B-17s, escorted by 2 P-51. They circled the lake three times!!! There’s supposed to be 8 of them at the airshow today!!! I’ll have pics later!!!
Awesome!!! You’re lucky you got to see the seventeen. I went last Saturday, and we had a corsair, a sea fury, Ov-1, and 2 mustangs flying. and of course the 2 P38’s with the F-15 and the F-4. The cessna t-50 was probably my favorite though. Beautiful airplane, and the pilot was very good.
Thanks for the comments. These were taken at the EAA Convention at Oshkosh known as AirVenture. As far as uploading time, when I got home each night I used the PhotoBucket Bulk Upload tool. I started the upload when I went to bed and by the next morning they were all uploaded. These are pictures from Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
Is that from the Thunder over Michigan show? Someday I really want to get over there to see that. It is a very impressive show from pictures I have seen and comments I have heard.
Yes Sir. This year was actually a bit of a let down. Didn’t get nearly as many planes as usual. Having 8 B-17s in the air together was pretty cool. They just orbited, spaced out. A few years ago, there was 9 of them, they orbited for a while, then formed up in three, three ship formations…that was F’n AWESOME!!!
Seeing the F-100 this year was a highlight (haven’t seen one before, other than in museum or gate guard). She wasn’t nearly as loud as I thught it would be.
Fermis, yeah, AirVenture’s numbers where way down with actual number of planes that flew for the show versus the number that where there. There was supposed to be a “Maximum Effort” on Tuesday for DC-3/C-47 fly-bys and formations, and there where only four C-47s together at once and three other at different parts of the show. On Friday they had all four B-17’s in the air and on Saturday none of the 17s flew. Thats why I tell my wife that you have to enjoy seeing these great aircraft fly when ever you can, because you never know howlong they wil be flying. The best show ever at AirVenture was the “Tribute to Valor” for the 50th Anniversary of WWII. They had over 150 planes in the air for that event. It was awesome!
But what Saturday lacked in sheer amounts of fossil fuel being burned my massive airplanes was made up for the climate. IT WAS PERFECT!!! I was wearing jeans the whole time, and never was I remotely hot. But it would have been nice to see at least 1 B-17. Or I’d have taken Fi-Fi the B-29…

I was there on Saturday as well and your right the weather was great and I was not disappointed at what I saw.
yessir, that was probably the best Air-venture experience for me overall in 5 years all things considered.
