has someone built the airfix lcvp?

I haven’t seen the kit yet but in the reviews I have seen, they say the detail is a little lacking and the machine guns are useless. That being said, it is supposed to be tons better than the Armageddon kit.
WEM are bringing out a photoetch set for this kit to really fix it up at about 4-5 times the cost of the kit itself.
I want several of these for D-Day dios so let me know how it goes for you.
I’m planning a omaha beach diorama, so i need two or three of them, i am now mostly looking for references now…
i really like to hear from your experiences building them.
I am familiar with the white ensign set, but haven’t seen it yet

Ummm, Phil? Since we haven’t yet designed the photoetch set for the kit, and since the price will be based on the size of the set, I’d be interested in how you arrived at your statement that our PE set will be several times the price of the basic kit? Are you now working for WEM?

Just basing my estimate (notice, no price quoted) on your other fine sets. Would love to pick up your E boat and PT boat sets but the price over here just keeps them out of my range (LHS has the eboat set for over $56 and I only paid $22 for the kit). Do like the prices you have on the new armament sets you have released and would be great if the LCVP set would come in at $10 or less. Again, great stuff, just wish I could afford them.

by the way, what kind of diorama are you making?
is it the first wave or are choosing the landings when the first troops are already inland?
my initial idea is to recreate the first wave landing on omaha beach, but its gonna cost me a lotta of time because i really want this diorama to be as accurat and realistic as possible within my skills as a modeller

I actually would like to make several dios of this event. Kind of leaning towards starting with a dio of Utah and one of the British beaches (love those Funnies). Got a LCM for Christmas and have been looking at that Accurate Armor LCT (ok, it is 76th and a couple hundred dollars but I can look).
Haven’t decided if I want to model the first wave or a follow up. Think Utah would be good with the vehicles starting to get off of the beach.
Have also thought about doing a collection of dios in 35th showing the life of a bunker. Maybe starting with what the spot looked like before the war, Bunker being built, ready for action, on D-Day and then 50 or 60+ showing a couple of vets (1 American, 1 German) meeting up to discuss their experiences. If I follow through on this, will probably start with the last one as that has the most interest to me.
Actually have several reference pics of a couple of bunkers on my website that a fellow modeler in France sent me. They aren’t from the actual beaches but are the same types as used.

i have one in this photo folder not had the finishing touches yet but it may give you an idea , i had all my built models in my loft then some hairy ****** builder done work and stood on them so the gunner has lost his arm and the front gate is broken. i need bout 10 most blown up so the wee details dont really matter. see omaha beach, in the dio threads that is what im currently working on along with a 1/350 scale us bb63 missouiri. my god its bloody big.

good bunkers for sale here, but i printed the piccies and made from scrach with modeling clay and plaster o paris. looks quite good if i do say so my self[xx(]
I have the Airfix LCVP and am planning on building it in the near future.
About the guns, though - were they usually .50 or .30 cal? I have a number of 1/72 spares of both types in my tank/AFV spares box, so could use these to replace the misshapen and under-scale ones supplied with the kit.
They look like .30-cal MGs (short barrel and curved handle/stock at the rear) but they’re so small it’s hard to tell!
