Airfix- battle of brittan gift set !!

hey guys

i am thinking of buying the airfix battle of brittan gift set but before i do if anyone has built this kit or and of the aircraft can you please post the pics ?? and if anyone has built a lancaster could they also post some pics

I’ve built Airfix’s Spitfire, Hurricane and Bf109, as boxed and sold separately. They are old molds, perhaps as far back as the 1960’s, although I think the Spitfire dates from 1980. Incidentally, Airfix released a new Spitfire (which I have still in the box) that got good reviews from FSM when it was released last fall.

They are very simple to build; parts fit well. They have raised panel lines, if that makes a difference to you. One aspect of the Spitfire is that Airfix captured the slight gull wing–Hasegawa’s Spitfire does not.

There was a Battle of Britain group build going on last year. Some of us did Airfix kits for it. Below is a Spitfire and a couple of Hurricanes I posted in that group. I don’t have photos of the Bf109, since I built it years ago. If you like older Airfix kits, you won’t be disappointed.

Here’s the link to the group build:

There is some fine work there.

And now that the picture you posted finally showed up (initially it was just a red “x”), I see we are talking about two different sets! There is a Battle of Britain gift set that contains a Spitfire, Hurricane, Bf109 and a German bomber.

Still, what I said about the Spitfire and Hurricane would seem applicable to the Memorial Flight gift set.

looks like alot of fun to build.

Last 1/72 kit I built was the Revell “Dam Busters” Lanc, and that was about 1970… Mom wouldn’t let me use her camera back then… sigh Wish they or Monogram would’ve put out a 1/48th Lanc…
