Glad to have you on board TJ.
I’m interested, have several of their new tool 72nd aircraft, plus a couple of their 54mm Napoleonic figures from way back.
Just to be certain, it’s alright to use aftermarket decals?
regards,
Jack
Yep, after market decals and any other AM is fine, i’ll make that clear in the build thread. Those figures sound nice as well. There are a few guys in the model club i belong to that paint 19th century figures and the work is amazing. Would love to see some of that on here.
There are rumors that Airfix will announce a new kit at Telford this weekend. “The big one” seems to be the buzzword. A new 1/24 Spitfire Mk.I? 1/24 Sopwith Camel? 1/72 Vulcan? 1/48 Vulcan? 1/350 HMS Queen Elizabeth? James May 1:1 Spitfire? It’s fun guessing! What is British, iconic, big, and Airfix?
Gosh, I hope it’s not a bust like the one time I was at Telford. There were rumors that a big announcement was going to be made, but alas nothing.
My vote goes to a 1/72 “Black Buck” Vulcan. I got to see real live Vulcans at Hickam AFB on two occasions in the late 1970s. I took a photo of the tail of one of them, which included the serial number and squadron emblem, so if Airfix delivers a new tool kit, I might have to buy two! (I have a decal sheet which has markings for all units, which i have been dying to use.)
Telford is not until next month G, but i would deffinetly expect somthing. 2 things i certainly expect to see next year are another Phantom, might as well make the most of those molds and they could appeal to a lot of markets. And i would also not be surprised to see an F-35 in RAF markings now it has enetered service.
I think when the Vulcan does come, it will deffinetly have markings for Black Buck, thats partly why i think it might be 2021, but you never know, might be sooner.
There was a time i never paid any interest in Airfix kits. Now the last few years i have found myself looking forward to the new releases.
Just picked up 2 more 72nd P-51D kits. $16 for both
Oops, getting my calendar all mxed up - too excited for possible news! [:D]
I think it’s great that Airfix has been revitalized and are pushing British subjects. I’m also a fan!
Oh boy!! I’m always up for one of your GB’s mate. I have several Airfix new and old. I’ll be doing one of each. I’ve be looking forward to digging into some of them, I Just don’t know which one(s) yet.
I’ll join, too. Don’t what with yet, plenty of options in the stash.
Good to have you on board guys.
Steve, i plan on doing both old and new kits, be interesting to see how they compare.
Count me in Bish! Let me see what I have in stash, I know there are several! And I too look forward to Bish GBs. I try never to miss a Bish or Japanese GB !
LOL, I know how they compare.
I think I’ll start off with the old mold 1/72 Bv 141
I was being polite [:D]. I am planning on starting with the old Sm.79 and following that with the new He 111P-2. Should be interesting.
Always nice to have you on board good. Seems we have a good crowd already, so look for the build thread start of Dec.
In a way, I’m glad this has a Dec. Start date… I’m completely reorganizing my work area and it’s going kinda slowly. Coming along though…
I haven’t been very active on the forums at all for far too long. Let alone having participated in a GB. This may be just the ticket I need to get reacquainted with the group. I certainly have a few of the newer molds in my stash now that I would love to build. Chalk me up as tentative Bish.
Well, with such a great subject area, GB host, and plenty of kits in my stash to choose from, I’ll give it a go myself.
Bish,
You know I’m in. I have no idea with what. Maybe I’ll get ambitious and build the MPC issue 1/24 P-51D. Don’t know where I’d put it when I was done, but it would be cool. All I know is it probably won’t be a plane which shall remain nameless.
Cheers guys, always nice to see such a high level of interest.
Count me in, not sure what yet. I did just pick up the 1/72 swift, maybe that one.
John
