Airfix 80th Anniversary GB feeler

Next year marks 80 years since the founding of Airfix. Though they did not begin to produce plastic models until the late 40’s, the company has become the byword for the hobby in the UK. tell someone you build plastic models, and they will menton Airfix.

So i would like to mark this event in the way we do best, by running a Group Build. It would of course be open to all Airfix kits what ever the genre. If there is enough interest, i would start the build thread at the begining of Dec and it would run from jan 1st for the whole of 2019.

So who is up for honouring a British icon.

Sounds good to me. I’ve got a copy of HMS Victorious and/or a copy of their Vampire jet fighter that I’ve been wanting to build. [:P]

Been wanting to try an Airfix kit, and your GB’s are always great.

I can’t start until late spring '19, but I’d be in, Bish.

Well as it happens I have a couple of Airfix’s kits in my stash just screaming out to be built in 2019.

Well, my wife is half Brit so honouring a Brithish company and buying a British product totally makes sense to me [:)]. I am in, don’t know with what yet

I have one airfix kit - 1/48 defiant. Sign me up!

Airfix just announced a new tool 1/48 Spitfire Mk.XIV bubbletop, IMHO the coolest looking mark of them all. I know it’s not Gentleman’s Scale, but hopefully it will be superior to the Academy offering.

And the year isn’t over. A new tool 1/72 Vulcan perchance?

G, i think a new Vulcan will deffinetly be coming from Airfix. It seems to be at the top of most peoples wish list when i check the Airfix forum. Not sure if it will be next year or if they will wait until closer to the 40th anniversary of the Falklands war. But i am looking forward to seeing what they have planned for 2019.

I’d be in, Bish. I’d probably break out something fancy and go with one of the new big bombers, but December is a couple of months away so who knows.

Im in, not sure what yet. I do enjoy the actual new tool kits…not the old airfix kits in the new red box!
