A fun little kit to build, but did add resin exhausts from Quickboost, along with machined brass guns from Master. No swastikas were provided on the decal sheet, so only stencils and wing crosses were used. Remainder of the markings were from other sources, plus some home made decals for the JG 26 emblem (gothic ‘S’ on white shield).

Editing out the display stand was easy. Just close cropped the image as much as possible, then erased what was still visible in the white background. The tricky part is where it’s actually in the aircraft image. All I did was use the eyedroper tool to pick up colours adjacent to the stand, and colored it out. Do have to pay attention to detail - in this one I had redraw the corner of the starboard radiator opening.
The display stand itself was from a Tamiya kit of the same type and scale of aircraft, similar to the image below:
I just simplified the attachment point by cutting it off, and drilling a hole to accept a brass rod. I need to find a few more of these, as I do prefer the wheels up position when modeling aircraft.
One odd thing is the Airfix boxing would of been more appropriate to include this since they give a seated pilot, as well as a second set of landing gear designed for up postion - Tamiya has neither of these.
Jack - I’ve been following this in the group build, and I have to say you’ve done an excellent job with that one! It looks like it could get up and fly.
I have been looking at those Airfix clear plastic stands, and they must be popular, as most webstores I visit, they are sold out. Thanks for the link, that is where I’ll most likely pick them up.
