I don’t know how many have seen this, but here is a pretty cool video of the CAD assembled 1:24th Mossie:

Here is a link to the kit on Airfix’s site:
Looks to be quite a neat model and very detailed.

hhmmm, really looking forward to this one,the mosquito is my fav. aircraft, ever since i saw one fly years and years ago.
Very interesting video, but did you see how the halves of the port engine cowling fit together? Way off! LOL
Seriously, very cool stuff and thanks for the link. [tup]
Mmmm, yummy. And the decals for RAAf No 1 Squadron should make it a hit with Aussie modellers too (provided they can afford the kit in the first place)
That video made me air sick!
At a recent local (to Hornby) club night, some of the test shots were on display, including three sets of wheels, with differing tread patterns, and a moulded-in flat spot. Hornby confirmed that the FB VI will be followed by a bomber version, then another with longer engine nacelles. No hint of what they are, but they also stated that there will be other 1/24 kits, as well.

They reckon that there’s a market for three different 1/24, £130+, Mossies, Edgar? There’s optimisim for you! We might get to see the 1/600 Dreadnought yet! Will they be offering a non-flat-spot option for the tyres, in case a potential customer doens’t like their interpretation of how a eighted-down Mossie’s tyres look?
I don’t suppose that they said anything about who’ll be doing the decals? Not in-house will be a deal-breaker for many!
Cheers,
Chris.
No problem Chris, I’ll take one of each, and maybe a second FB-Vl.
Very interesting video. I wish that I could build a model that quickly.

[sigh]Mr. Hall, by now you’re perfectly aware (or should be) that I’m not employed by Hornby (or anyone else, for that matter,) so can’t answer your enquiry directly, though it’s the first time that I can remember a company being mocked for being optimistic. Maybe they feel that their contacts, in the hobby, are more reliable, regarding potential sales, than the guesses of single modellers? You must also be aware that living in Buckinghamshire means that a Kent meeting is hardly local for me, so I only know what occurred according to those who actually attended, and passed it on because I feel that fellow modellers might find it interesting. Your apparent desire, always, to shoot the messenger, especially regarding Airfix kits, does get a little wearing, at times.
With regard to the decals, I can only repeat the advice that I’ve given to you before, and suggest that you ask Hornby directly. Given the reports that I’ve seen, and heard, about the huge improvement in the quality of the sheets in the TSR2 & Canberras, I would suspect that most of us will hope that they continue with their new supplier (whoever that is.)

Looks like a complex beast!Wow wouldn’t that kit be a “Big” challenge"in more than one way?Where would you store the completed model? You’ve got to love the ambition of the revived Airfix!
