New 1/24th scale Grumman Hellcat announced at IPMS UK Scale Modelworld Show. Had all the test shots on show with two builds, one with wings folded. Very impressive model to look forward to. Airfix have taken to announcing premium products at the SMS Telford. Last big one announced there was the Hawker Tempest a couple of years of so back.

I knew about a special announcement from Airfix and as a habitual large scale builder I fully expected a bit of a damp squib announcement.
what a surprise I had at seeing that 1/24 Hellcat and got the ability to look at the test shot very closely and speak with the actual designer who also did their magnificent Tiffy.
Everything just needs tightening up and I did mention that they use a different and better grade of plastic than their normal pale blue soft stuff as it would give a cleaner more refined and sharper detail result that these kits deserve.
Release is April/May 2019 and RRP is £120.
My brain has already bought one!
