I got a new paint color for tires. It’s called Grimy Black from Floquil. I’d like some opinions as to if it is too light.
If it is too light, would some black ink be ok to darken it up, or do I have to go with another $4 to get floquil black?
It looks perfect to me!
I believe Testors labels this color as Anthrecite.

I just discovered Nato Black from Tamiya XF-69, looks about the same, perhaps a tad darker.
I’ve been using Floquil Grimey Black on tires for years. I love the color.
Cool. Thanks guys, I appreciate the input!
does it have a silver tint to it, or is that the flash. Because if it looks a bit silver-y, that’d be great for SR-71 or the other tires with metal in them.
I also have been using Grimy Black for years. It goes on the tires of almost all my planes with the exception of jets. It seems to be the best color for any WWII aircraft. In my opinion it is absolutly not too light. Floguil also carries Oily Black which is a great color for engine leaking or blowback.
No, sir, that would be my flash. I’m no photographer or anything so my pictures kinda suck[#oops]
I use Floquil Grimey Black on most of my WWII aircraft, except late war Luftwaffe. On late Luftwaffe aircraft, they would be a slightly lighter shade due to a shortage of lampblack. On Modern/Jet aircraft you want a slightly darker color. In any case, never use a true black on tires.

I agree with snakedriver that’s what I use.
that colour looks sweet
