Aircraft stand

I was at an Armed Forces display in the Milwaukee area the other weekend and had a chance to see the HAS F/A-18F built by Paul Boyer and depicted in the May issue of FSM.

Mr. Boyer displayed the “Super-Bug” on a really cool stand and I’m hoping some of you all might have an idea where I could find the material to do this.

What he had was two 1/2" clear plastic tubes that were attached inside of the “Bugs” burner cans. The plastic was heated, (I would assume) to form a curve with the other ends being connected to a platform.

My question is, if anyone knows what the heck I just described, where can I find these clear plastic “tubes?”

Thanks,

if you look here, http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20726, i mounted my p-51 with a thin plexiglass rod. You can get it at a hobby shop or craft store.

actually, here’s a better pic of it. it’s pretty easy to see from this angle, but you can’t see it if you’re looking at the side or top of the mustang.

Here’s some commercially available stands.

Paul emailed me this afternoon and hooked me up with an address where he purchased the stuff I’m looking for. “brandonp51,” thanks. I’m keeping your link for future reference.

Take care,
