Anyone every built their own booth? I was thinking of doing this b/c I’m moving to an apartment about the size of a chinese solitary confinement cell and I was considering having something that could sit in an open window like a air conditioner unit.
hey man ya ive built my own spray booth it was pretty easy i made it out of sheet metal and a old heater fan i just removed the heater part and i installed a 120v flood lamp to belp with visibliity and drying
the end project cost me nothing!
so i suggest try and find some plans over the internet and have at her
I’m in a situation where I need a booth, which I’m going to have to install in my garage, as there’s no place in the house for it. It’ll also be a bit tricky/expensive to vent it into the outside world, as it can’t really be near an outside wall (I have to keep it well away from my mountain bikes!).
What would my options be? I could run a flexible duct to another exterior wall, but it’s open to a public thoroughfare, and would likely have kids wadding it up with stuff after a
while - you know what kids are like.
I was going to construct the actual booth from mdf or chipboard, and install one of those TV pedestals inside it so that I can re-orient whatever I’m spraying without much trouble. If I don’t vent it, what are the drawbacks?
As I’ve not used an airbrush much in the past, how much residue does it kick up, how far would it typically travel, and does it fall as dust, or does it adhere to whatever it lands on. I’d hate to get my bike covered in paint, as the frame alone cost me 1,000 GBPs!!!
I built my own booth last year. I picked up a used range hood at a garage sale for 2 bucks, built a box out of 1x2 famiing and cheap flooring underlay. I then set the whole unit on a table by the window and work away. The great thing about the range hood is that the fan was two speed and it has a built in light, which I piggy backed a outlet onto.
Cheers!
