Airbrushes Question

I would like to ask ya fellas if you use an airbrush with small paint tank for painting small model parts or do you use a general airbrush for painting the whole model and their tiny parts?

sigman, i personally try to hand paint as few parts as i can get away with. i have three gravity feed brushes, which in my humble opinion are great for aircraft modelling as they hold more than enough paint to cover any 1/48 model and you can spray every little drop of paint out of the bowl. about the only hand painting i do is in the cockpit areas and some wheel well do-dads and the rest i use the airbrush on. you can drop about 2 drops of properly thinned paint and cover all the interior of a cockpit general color. hope this helps. later.

[#ditto] I hand paint very little to. Cockpit details and engine details are about all I hand paint. I just can’t get anywhere near the same finish using a brush, so I drag out the airbrush for nearly everything.

I use bottom feed airbrushes instead of gravity feed though

Like MusicCity and Saltydog I try and AB everything, as my brush painting skills are somewhat lacking.

I have mainly used my Badger 200 for everthing, but having just taken delivery of a new Omni4000 will probably look to using the new brush for more of the detailed work.

As it is many of the smaller parts I clean up on the sprue fret, and then AB in situ, simply touching up the stub mark wherever needed. This gives me something to hold them by, and saves losing them!

I also try and ensure that all parts to be painted a certain colour are ready for spraying at the same time, so that large and small parts alike are done, which I find saves on paint and time.
