Welcome Mamacat. FSM magazine just had an issue (Jan 2004) on beginner airbrushes. You may want to check it out. They also have another issue (Feb. 2004) that covers double-action airbrushes. You will get plenty of opinions here. I own a Badger 200. Like it very much. Very affordable.
Cool thanks!!!
(P.S.)
I am a male this is a family login/registration.
Mamacat, there are a few places to look into when you decide to buy one and it will cost you less. www.dixieart.com or www.bearair.com
Mamacat - welcome to FSM, and welcome to the Armour Forum. I have the Paasche H and have used it for quite a few years … very happy with it.
[#ditto] I am also glad you decided to build armor models. Good luck in your search for a airbrush.

Welcome to the Armor forums!
Let us know which you decide on.
Welcome Mamacat, I started out with the trusty Badger 200. I know it’s a little pricey, but as long as you clean it well it’ll last you a very long time. I’ve still got and use mine although I use an Aztec 430 most of the time now.
i can’t realy coment on single action brushes. i use a badger 150 double action and i have been realy happy with it , works very well. double action is a bit harder to learn to use properly from what i have heard but it does allow you more control. i’m starting to consider getting a badger 200 now single action would be nice in some situations. either one of those 2 would be a safe bet i think , i know badger also makes another line of airbrush under a different name that is supposed to be very good but also more expensive
thanks guys i really like the feedback. keep it comeing.
You get plenty of good feedback here… Just never mention anything to do with Monty Python…
Stop it! Stop it! Stop being silly! Let’s have a forum about decent people!
One thing I can suggest to you is , avoid a single action airbrush they are very hard to work with regarding camouflage jobs , they are good for overall spraying of base colours . But unless you can control the flow of air and paint german type camo jobs will be almost impossible . But that is just me here, some of the others may have some tips they could give you there with single action . ( Paasche VL here, love it !) Also try to avoid using canned air ( will cost you a fortune in a very short time !)[B)] Good luck !.. Shawn
thanks shawn i all ready have a compressor that i am using with my dads 35 yrear old Aztech “hobby airbrush”
Welcome mamacat! We used to have a black cat that we called mamacat.
I use a Badger 150, I bought it second hand for only 40 dollars, which I felt wasn’t bad. I mostly use it for airbrushing Future on my models, since I have a small Hobby Room and no spray booth to control; the paint overspray. And since this is Southern California, I can’t spray outdoors on my balcony because A) The Association won’t allow it, and B) I’ll end up with a fine coat of Smog sticking to the wet paint!. Hey, maybe that could be a good weathering technique!
