Airbrush Trivia

Ran across this link on the net and thought it was interesting. It’s a short “Timeline” of the development of the airbrush.
http://www.wgn.net/~panther/airbrush2_history_timeline.htm

I thought it was interesting that the airbrush has been around since 1879 and was first called a “paint distributer”

This link: http://www.wgn.net/~panther/ is the root of his site and has a lot of pictures and other information about old airbrushes. The owner says he has 200+ airbrushes. I think that even beats you, Mike [:D][:D][:D]

Scott,

I’ve seen that site before and it is very informative.
You are right, he has a lot more than I ever will. [;)]

My buddy Scooter has quite a collection also and can be seen here:

Click on the ‘Collection’ link to see them.

Not to split hairs - but the very first use of a (very) primative airbrush was thought to have been used in neolithic times. There are cave paintings involving (its assumed) the artists hand, and a spray of pigment over it - such that it leaves a sprayed spot of color on the wall and a negative ‘shadow’ of their hand. Speculation is that a small hollow tube like a river reed was filled with the pigment and then blown over the subject’s hand.

A Paasche it aint, but it did provide a beginning…[;)]

thats about how well my omni’s been spraying lately!![:P][:P]

Brian,

That is what is on the link I posted about my friend’s site.
He has this picture on his site which is what you are describing:

Mike

Yeah, he does have quite a collection! That’s an interesting site.

Took someone pretty intelligent to come up with an idea like that back in that era. It’s amazing to realize that people that primitive could come up with something relatively “High Tech”.

Politicians couldn’t use that one … no way to regulate the air pressure!

I think people have been programmed to believe the silly evolutionary teaching that man was a dumb. ape-like beast who lived in caves back then, which I believe is absolute hogwash.
There have always been extraordinary minds throughout time and things like the pyramids are proof of that. Man has always been intelligent, we just have the advantage of an accumulation of knowledge which they did not have.

Mike

excellent post mike.

I agree … that’s very true.
