I currently have an Aztek 270. Not the best airbrush, I know, but it’s done me well up to this point. The problem I’m having now is that as soon as I attach the airbrush to the propellant can, it’s blowing! I don’t even have to depress the trigger. Considering that I don’t see any way to take this airbrush apart, I’m assuming it’s done for.
What caused this problem? And if I decide to get a better single action airbrush, what recommendations would you have for one that’s under $100?
It sounds as though the airbrush body is kaput, and Testor’s does NOT cover them with the lifetime warranty. If you want a great single action airbrush for under $100, get a Paasche H. You can buy the H Set which includes 3 tips color cup, large and small bottles, and a braided hose for about $49.95 from http://www.dixieart.com/HSet.html Its a great brush, easy to use, and reliable as an anvil.
I’m not familiar with the Aztec line, except some people despise them and some love them. I recommend the Badger 100LG dual action available for $64.95 at Dixie Art. There are others who will recommend Paasche and Iwata, all of which have models (and all of which are available from Dixie Art) well under the $100 limit. A good deal is the Badger 150 Pro Set which includes Fine, Medium and Large needles & tips, color cup, 3/4 oz jar w/adapter, 2 oz jar & a 6’ braided hose for only $74.95. This is the same AB as the 100LG except it’s a siphon fed brush. I own both. The big difference between them is that the 100LG can spray slightly finer lines due to the simple fact that it can spray using less pressure. The tips & needles (in fact all parts) are interchangeable between the 100/150 line. Only the main body are different, and that only because of the different methods of holding the paint.
Bgrigg is right ive got a 100lg and a 175 both are great brushes and under the $100 doller range at dixieart.
I’m one of those big fans of Aztek airbrushes. I own two, the A320 and the A470. The A320 is a GREAT single action airbrush. It uses all of the nozzles and cups that the A470 uses.
