What brand of paint do most of you use and whats your mix of paint to water (in drops lets say)? I have some creatix paints (acrylic) and wanted to know a good mix for this brand if anyone uses it. Are their any paints out there you can put straight in the airbrush (after color mix) that spray well without water?
Createx give no ratios, but you should looking at getting the consistency of milk. I would try 50/50 and adjust from there.

Most people around here use model specific paint ranges, as the coulours are matched to many of the subjects in hand. I use Tamiya Acrylics, as many other here do, but there are several other well recognised & thought of brands.
Some manufacturers do produce ready thinned airbrush paint for modelling, like Vallejo. The coulour range available in some of these ranges is however somewhat limited.
I USE MODEL MASTER AND FLOQUIL COLORS ,FLOQUIL COLORS ARE ACRYLICS I THIN THESE WITH DENATURED ALCOHOL ALSO CALLED RUBBING ALCOHOL. MODEL MASTER COLORS I USE MINERAL SPIRIITS. Hehe…caps lock dude! First, no Floquil is an enamel paint. Model Masters make an acrylic line (which thin well with alcohol, or even distilled water), and an enamel line as well. Mineral spirits are wat you need to thin enamels, and you will need lacquer thinner for cleanup.
No, you don’t NEED Testors thinner, although I do like their acrylic thinner. I use hardware mineral spirits on the rare occasions when I still spray enamel.

FLOQUIL comes in both water based acrylic and solvent based enamel. So does MODELMASTER.

By the way, yes Floquil makes both enamel, and acrylic based paints. I haven’t used floquil in so long that I don’t know if they’ve changed their formulation, but acrylic, and enamel are both soft paints, and they are compatible with each other, so there’s no worry about ruining your model if you want to use one, or the other.
