airbrush cleaning

I only use acrylics and paint brushes with artificial bristles for hand painting of models; there’s absolutely no room in my apartment for safe use of an airbrush.

I’ve learned from my local hobby store that The Masters Brush Cleaner and Preserver I’ve been using, and is used up, is no longer available in Canada because of federal restrictions on the shipment of chemicals, or some such. They offered Mr. Hobby Brush Cleaner and Tamiya Brush Conditioner as an alternative, but I’d father stick to one-solution solution.

Googling the problem, I came across the Simple Green web site and a suggestion that Simple Green cleaning solution works well for cleaning paint brushes. Some responders to the OP’s question have mentioned Simple Green. The suggestion on the Simple Green web site doesn’t mention the types of paint it works withI, but I went ahead and tried it and it seems to have worked well. Have any FineScale members use Simple Green to clean brushes? Other suggestions are welcome, of course.

It hadn’t occurred to me to try Simple Green. It works great on everything else when I put it in the ultrasonic cleaner with Simple Green, so what heck! I’m going to try it.
