Hi all. Just a quick question. Has anyone used this or a similar airbrush cleaning kit as the one below? It says it’s nylon brush, so it shouldn’t harm the airbrush but just wanted to make sure. Right now I use a dental brush and it works ok but won’t reach as far as I’d like. Here is a link…

I have a couple sets of the long brushes on keyrings, Andy. I use them often.

Not only do the bristles not seem to harm the body (or even the seals/o-rings), but they must be solvent resistant because I use them with laquer thinner regularly.

Not sure about the tool in the middle. I think it might be a nozzle cleaner, scares me and I’ve not tried one.

I have used the brushes on the key ring for years with several airbrushes with no ill effects. I also use pipe brushes you find at the craft stores.

The small brushes are a handy tool that does work well, with the caution to be careful with the snipped ends. It’s just twisted wire, the cut ends can lead to scarring of the AB metal bits like nozzle interiors. I avoid running them through the needle bearing, those sharp cut ends can mar the softer bearing surface.

The sharp metal pick I guess is for cleaning dried residue in small areas, I rely on toothpicks for that. If the toothpick is to large to enter a space, it can easily be sanded down and made smaller so it will fit.

I have the 5 brushes on a ring. I guess they’re OK if used gently. The bristles seem too stiff to me. I know that Badger doesn’t recommend them. The gold thing and the 5 stainless steel probes look scary. I wouldn’t stick them in my airbrushes.

I use pipe cleaners to swab the front end of my Badger 155, and interdental brushes for the nozzle and needle seal. The ones below reach far enough.

The manufacturer of Badger and Sotar airbrushes recommend against the use of these brushes. The wire can scratch the fine internal bearing surfaces of the brush and can lead to paint leaking past the bearings into the brush body. Use a finer dental pick if you must get inside. Recently there was a recommendation of paper root canal probes as a good substitute
