Airborne greetings

Hi,

I got back into modelling in 2011 and my interests are 1/48 aircraft. I enjoy modelling USN modern fighters, WWII Luftwaffe and SAAF subjects . I have a couple of other interests, with a 1/35 King Tiger and Tiger 1 waiting to be built. I enjoy learning more about the subjects I model and also enjoy sharing the discoveries I and others make along the way. It’s always good and interesting to find out what methods others use and then try and learn from each other.

I look forward to contributing and learning on this forum.

Sharing discoveries eh…? I have discovered that were all nuts and we love company!!

Welcome to the forums. Make sure to post pictures of your builds. We love pictures !!

Questions ? We always have answers. Correct or not… well… you will have to decide.

WQelcome to the forum, look forward to seeing your builds.

Are you an ex para or still serving, either way, i think we can forgive you if you post some pics of your builds.[;)]

Welcome aboard PB… like Bish said, have fun here, and dont be afraid to share your work here…

Welcome Parabat! Good to have you. Can’t wait to see some of your builds!

Thanks for the welcome guys, yeah, most modellers are a bit nuts littletimmy. I’m still serving in the Paras. I will share some pics of my past builds shortly (is it frowned upon to list pictures already on other modelling fora?). Catch you later. Parabat

No, its fine to post pics even if they are on another site.

By any chance, are you in the SA Army, 1 para. You didn’t mention your nationality, and i am just guessing. I am not sure if the US use the term Para, though i might be wrong.

Cool, I’ll get some up shortly then. You’re right, I’m in the British Paras, but not 1 Para.

Not really, we use paratrooper or airborne. Parachute is still (or was as far as I know) used in some of the original US airborne units names- e.g. 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, etc.

I did originally think British, but then i goggled Parabat and thought you mkight be South African. Hence the 1 Para.

I will leave the ribbing until you have setteled in a bit. [:D]

Stik, thanks for the clarification. I didn’t think you guys used that term, for some reason it does seem motre of a Brit thing.

Bish, I shall now call you Poirot! Guilty as charged, USED to be 1 Para Bn in Tempe, SANDF before joining ‘The Reg’.

Welcome, Parabat. Building plastic is somewhat safer than jumping out of airplanes.

I don’t know CMK… in spite of my few mishaps in that field (runways and roads are not soft[blkeye]), I would take that over an xacto cut any day[;)][whstl]

Welcome to the Forums Parabat. My name is Jim and I am a plasticaholic. I love the smell of plastic in the morning. Maybe that’s what happened to us. Too much sniffing glue, plastic, and paint over the years. [;)] Glad to have you aboard.

welcome to the forums, sounds like the beginnings of a nice stash

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, it’s always nice to see some friendliness!

Jumping out of planes at night with 100lb of kit at 800ft is actually quite safe…

Modelling plastic aircraft is a great way to research and construct the things we love to wonder at and admire.

Welcome to the forums!

Awesome to have ya aboard! Welcome!
