Dear fellow modelers! We are starting a new project - very special GAZ 66B “SHISHIGA” with a soft removable roof specially desined for the soviet airborne forces. First I thought about a “normal” GAZ 66, whereas the kit (72182, GAZ 66) mistakenly contains GAZ 66B cabin (I dont know why). Thus, I decide to build an afghanistan airborn GAZ 66B staff car.

Interesting subject, this should be good. I’ve been tempted by ACE kits a few times but never taken the plunge.
Those ACE kits are.. challenging..! But they often offer something ‘different’. Give it a try!
I’m following this one with interest. I’m primarily an airplane guy, but I’ve recently been asked to judge armor at a show, so I’m actively trying to learn more about how you armor and vehicle guys do things.
Which brings me to a question: what are you doing with the yellow stick and rubber bands in the photos? I’m assuming it’s some sort of alignment or assembly technique, but I haven’t seen that before.
I’m genuinely curious, because I’m trying to learn as I follow along.
This is my own technique of climbing detais for correct gluing them on the place. It is required to hold the detail, which was placed and glued, in a right position for a long time without any damaging.

I’ve just enlarged your photos and the moulding quality of the kit actually looks really good, especially for the scale.
In that kit it is really OK! There are some mistakes (no “ГАЗ” factory name on the front, some details are missed). But it could be fixed.
