Aichi E13A JAKE (Nichimo 1-50)

Found these recovering some old files from my PB account. Nichimo’s ancient JAKE built mostly OOB, with a 1/48 resin VAL cockpit added (I forget which brand), and dressed up with sprue and EZ-Line aerials. Original kit decals, probably at least 20 yrs. old when completed. Wing-fold mechanism as in the kit, a bit crude, but fully serviceable. Light weathering—though I see I should have done quite a bit more to the floats!

Hope you enjoy.

Really nice work there Greg!

Thanks for sharing with us even if she is a little old.

Ya I agree it’s beautiful. give me incentive to keep working on my Ki-67

John

Thanks, guys!

Other than hacking away the original moldings designed to hold the batteries and Mabuchi motor, to be able to put in an interior, I seem to remember it as being a straightforward and trouble-free build.

I’ve always loved the sort of ‘lethal stork’ look of the IJN floatplanes.

Always great to see Japanese A/C here. Fine paint job and solid work on oldie, but obviously a goodie. I have the Nichimo Nick in my stash and look forward to building it one day.

A fine looking model! Well done.
