I’m building tamiyas 1/48 me-262a-1 and I’m having a terriable time with the tires. I cant remove the seam line without destroying the tire tread…so I thought I would take the easy way out and get aftermarket tires, maybe even weighted. Could you give some direction…thanks[banghead]
Squadron produces a set of main & nose wheels that are smooth tread, and “weighted.” Cutting Edge also makes wheels, with the hexagonal pattern, that are also “weighted.” Unfortunately, the CE set is only the main wheels. For a nosewheel, you can use one from a set of Bf 109G-14 or K-4. It is the same wheel/hub. Just sand the bottom of the nosewheel flat, as the Bf 109 tires sit at an angle.
Hope this helps.
The CE set are absolutely stunning!
You won’t beleive the tread detail, especially after application of a gentle wash and dry brush.

i believe true details do a smooth tread set as well; take a look at the pic in this link.
