After a 30 year break from models......

At the suggestion of a buddy of mine, I’m trying models again. I haven’t built models since 1985. But this time without the sloppy glue and filling them with firecrackers for fun. I’ve gone as far as equipping myself with a Paasche Millennium Airbrush and Quiet Air compressor. Planning on starting 1:35 scale of military subjects from my 20+ years in the Army. I’m full of questions and cant wait to post some progress pictures. First up, an Academy M-981 FISTV with a photo etched detail add on kit and, if I can find them, track upgrades. And away we go…

Welcome aboard, dive in and enjoy. Look forward to seeing those pics. A build thread might be a good idea.

Sound like my early modeling in the 80’s

Welcome to the forums!

Looking forward to seeing some Pics of the M981.

I came back to modeling after a 20 year hiatus in 2012. It’s been extremely enjoyable, and my stash has been growing (about 100 kits).

Biggest advantage between then and now… the internet! Such a fantastic treasure trove of tips and information. Welcome!

Welcome back to the hobby. The Academy 981 has decent enough indy link tracks in the kit. (mine does anyways) But if you must have something else you can get white metal Fruils, or injection plastic indy link tracks from AFV Club or Model Kasten for 113 family vehicles in 1/35.

HI there! Welcome to the forum

Welcome back to the hobby, brother! Join a local IPMS Club; you’ll learn a LOT!
