There was a thread earlier about alternate markings for the V-22 Osprey. I built one of Testor’s first releases as an Air Force Special Operations Command bird… circa 1991! At the time, the MH-53 guys were going “Oh, ****”, the Herky guys were going… “How are we gonna air to air refuel that thing??” and there were all kinds of jokes about improper use of propellers, windmills, hummingbirds… you name it!
Anyway, this is the 1/72 version, the camo was done freehand and based (very loosely) on a combination of HC-130 and HH-3 camo patterns. Hope you enjoy!
VERY nice freehand camo. It turned out beautifully. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, Damon, a very beautiful job indeed, thanks for letting us see! [:)]
Take care,
Frank
Neat looking bird
Is that the Italeri kit? If it is then I have the same one. I’m about 1/3 done, but I had to fill/sand my way through the fit issues.
Very nice work on the Osprey. That will be a terrific bird for Spec Ops, if they ever get all the bugs worked out of it. I can just see some insane PJ running a quad out the back of that thing at 20,000 feet.

Very nice, Damon! I just hope that the Marines get something soon to replace their Frogs, which are wearing out pretty quick now. - Calvin
That’s a sharp looking Osprey, the camo is really well done. Thanks for posting the photos.
I also agree that it is a sharp looking Osprey.
Nice job on the camouflage. I miss Euro1! Thanks for sharing that with us.
Thank you all for your comments! I do appreciate that!
Jabbe, it is the 1/72 Italeri kit. I don’t remember many fit problems with it; however, I built it 14 years ago… so the memory isn’t quite what it used to be.
Trigger74, I also miss the Euro 1 camo… it gave airplanes some personality. The current trend of overall grey is plain dull and boring…
yardbird78, yes indeed it will be awesome… IF they can work the bugs out. The MH-53J’s are showing their age… and I thought the PJ’s were already insane… and jumping out at 20,000 feet from Herks… [:D]
Once again, thank you all for your comments!
Very nice build, thanks for sharing!
