How rude of me Spock. [#welcome] Have a great time and someone will help you out.
Well, Spock, I personally love modeling the weapons and equipment of the Israeli-Egyptian, Syrian, and Jordanian conflicts. Lots of modified vehicles on both sides of that conflict.
If you are interested in the African wars, Google searches are going to net you a lot of results. However, South Africa makes a huge number of armored vehicles and artillery pieces and scatters them all over the world. I have yet to see more than a couple of kits of any of their equipment though. I would like to try and scratch build some of their artillery pieces someday though.
Give it a look, maybe something will peak your interest. For goodness sake, there is so much variety in the armored world that there is no reason to get bored. Just look elsewhere around the globe!
Spock,
I have pictures of several African T-55’s (mostly Angolan). The paint is usually slightly darker than Russian green. A couple of them had multiple colors, all bright and are devoid of markings other than turret numbers. To go along with your African tank, a resin crew has recently come out on the market. IIRC, they are made by Warriors. Do a
search for them at www.modelmecca.com The only country that I know of in Africa using T-72’s is Libya, but I haven’t been able to find any pictures. HTH.
DML’s T-34/85 NVA (the North Vietnamese Army version) contains decals for the Angolan Army.
Welcome aboard Spock [:)]
I think you’ll find that the beauty of modelling African armour is that just about anything you can imagine is, or has been, used in Africa, That’s all kinds of possibilities!
There’s a South African company that makes a conversion set for turning a Tamiya Centurion into an Olifant 1A
Welcome Spock
I’ve got some pics of Mozambiquan T-55 or 34/85, they’re some where at home. I’ll try to find them and post them. They’re in a very dark green. If you’re looking for South African kits go to www.ipmssa.za.org and go to miscellaneous.
Sorry bout the quality. Photo of a photo. Captured t-55 with mineplow. If u want to do a search just type Border War as the keywords. Hope this helps. What do u think of my new signature.[8D]
