Aerial Frame and Whitewash Question

Hello all! It feels good to be modeling again, after about a 9 month hiatus at college! I’ve been building a Panhard type 178 (Captured by the Germans, renamed the Panzerspahwagen 204 (f), and converted to a railway protection vehicle) Pictures will come soon, but until they do, I was hoping that you could help me out. I read in my research that it had an aerial frame, but alas, this kit did not come with it. (It’s Dragon re-box of the Alby kit with a few extra parts.) I want to try a whitewash, and so far my attempt at pastel chalk and water hasn’t worked. (Pastel chalk is another new thing I’m trying for the first time…) I remember reading somewhere that “Wite-Out” will work, but I figured I’d pick the brains of Armorama before I tried it.

Here’s a painting of a 204 with the aerial frame. Could I do it with stretched sprue? Or would styrene rod/brass rod work better? Thanks for your time!

I was reading the article the other day about whitewash found it very interesting goin to try it the next time i get a chance hope it helps u and good luck.

As someone who’s built an exocage on a model of a Suzuki, I would recommend against stretched sprue or any kind of tubing. Styrene, aluminum, or brass rod would be best. Styrene is easier to work with, and once you get the bend just right wave a lighter flame under it a few times until it just starts to go glossy then it will stay put. Takes a little bit of practice but it gives good results.

Thank you both! That will help a lot, thanks! Also, would “Wite-Out” work for a whitewash? Thanks for your time!
