My build of the ProModeler Ta-154 Moskito ended abruptly after being more than halfway finished due to my losing one of the prop spinners. Unlike some people I’ve read on the site, I had no fit problems whatsoever and it was going on as a very enjoyable build. I think someone said it was the old Dragon mold, but I don’t know. It’s an odd subject for Monogram to kit, I think, unless they got a good deal on the molds or something like that. I was building it OOB except for some True Details resin wheels and fine stainless tubing for the very conspicuous cannons on the sides of the forward fuselage.
Question is, I’ve never tried one of those molding tricks using a master (in this case, the other spinner) with hot plastic sheet stretched over it. Would this be feasible? Otherwise, does anyone know of another fix for the problem? Monogram no longer makes this kit, so parts are out of the question. Any help would, of course, be greatly appreciated.
You could try casting a resin copy from the other spinner. I’ve been dabbling with casting my own parts and it seems fairly easy, depending on the part. I’d think that a spinner might not be to difficult.
I bought the resin casting starter kit from Bare Metal Foil and so far it’s been worth the $$. I’ve only made simple things like wheels and drop tank copies as practice items, so I think that a spinner might not be too difficult.

Shark, the Monogram ProModeler Ta-154 kit was based on tooling started by Dragon, but Dragon never released it. Some of the fit problems are related to parts warpage. Sounds like you got a clean pull from the mold, but some were pretty bad. I think Steves’ suggestion on casting a resin replacement is your best solution to the immediate problem.

If you want an easier option, Cutting Edge make a resin replacement for the Dragon kit. The kit number is 48352. You should be able to order them through Meteor , Roll Models or Great Models.
Aha! Does that mean the kit spinners/props are inaccurate? I’ve heard that about certain Ta 152 kits. If so, it would be a good excuse to replace both of them.
E-Mail me your address. I’ll send you two props & spinners.
