Advice on a compressor please

I’ve recieved an Aztek 4709 for christmas and I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as regards a compressor for it. There seems to be quite a variety to choose from. Thanks

Gary,
There are alot to choose from. I have the A/B compressor from Harbor Freight tools. only thing is, it is a non-adjustable airflow type (unless I overlooked it?) works pretty decent tho. They have them on sale aften for around 60 bucks

I have a small Badger compressor I purchased at garage sale for 5 bucks I think. It also has no controls but a quick trip to my local hardwear store solved my problem. I purchased a small puematic control valve the type used on a heating system I now have all the control I need.

Cheers!

Kewl! I knew there wa something out there for this. Just wasn’t sure where to look. Thanks McCaber

I’m a big fan of a compressed air tank, myself. It’s silent and long-term costs are low. Did I mention it’s silent? My favorite feature!

My compressor is a Campbell-Housfeld (sp?) compressor I bought at Pep Boys auto store for about $90 on sale. It has a 2 gallon tank that holds 100 p.s.i. and has a built in regulator with a gauge. I believe you could get the same thing at Wal-Mart. I’ve had mine for 2 years so far and it’s worked like a charm. Very effecient too.

I saw one of these at walmart, seems like it would be great for an airbrush, but my only problem with it would be how loud it is! So is it quiet, or would it have to be located somewhere besides in the house?

I have one of these & it works great for runnin’ air tools, blowin’ up tires. It’s also NOISY as[censored]

I got the Aztek A470 also. I use Testors AC700 as a compressor. It’s more quite then the Badger compressors ( I had on of those). It also has a regulator and a docking station for the airbrush. Here’s a link: http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=2362

I figured for $80 it wasn’t going to be to quite, good to know its effective though. I have a Delta 2 HP/8 Gallon compressor, but its to noisy to use in the house, or around the house [:D] I guess I will have to take Ed’s advice [B)][(-D]on the Harbour Freight A/B compressor!

I have a big compressor for working on cars but needed one for my newly acquired airbrushes. I can’t plumb the air into the house.[:(]

I needed something that would be able to spray my car models and put out enough air pressure for my wifes occasional T-shirt spraying, but QUITE was also a very big factor. I actually plugged in a few of those compressors at Wal Mart and Home Depot, they were too loud for in the house. I sure didn’t want to spend another large amount (hundreds or over a thousand) for one of those silent compressors since I already have an expensive one.

So I took a chance on this - Super Quite w/ Tank

We love it, I can sleep or watch TV while my wife sprays (even in the same room) and I don’t get a headache (had a head injury and get migraines easy now).

I am gonna have to save up! I really wanted one with a tank. Thanks for the link Jhande!

You are welcome eizzle [;)]

Here’s a few more…

Actually I bought mine in an Iwata automotive kit at AirBrush-DEPOT.
They also sell the compressor by itself - the ABD TC-20T, but for $169.98 +$16.95 S&H = $186.93. With S&H the 121TK at Airbrush City comes out to $169.62. Check out Airbrush City’s January Special, I know it’s more money, but it’s also more power. [:)]

I kind of wish I waited and seen that compressor. Humm, another hobby compressor for the family? Nah…?? [:-^]

Actually the ABD TC-20T compressor alone is $129.00. The $169 price comes with a tank. I bought it without a tank and it runs great! Maintains steady pressure with no pulsing. Very quiet too. I can play the radio or TV at a normal volume.

New here by the way. Hello everyone! Great info here!

Welcome LateBloomer… I’m new here too. I only been here a week or two I think.

Glad to hear the tankless compressor srays fine without pulsing. I was going to buy that one but was affraid it might pulse, so I spent the extra for the tank. [:(]
Both my wife and I were amazed at how quiet this compressor is after hearing even the ones at our local hobby shop.

And true, AirBrush-DEPOT sells the compressors without the airbrushes (non-kits).
The ABD TC-20 without tank listed for $129.98
The ABD TC-20T with tank listed for $169.98

I originally only listed the tank version since I had experience with that one.

Well Fellas, I just found the airflow regulator on my HF compressor… on the bottom of the water trap… (DOH!!)

i have an old Badger compressor that i stopped using when i gt the Coleman $99.00 deal (yup,it’s REAL loud),but three days ago i was finally allowed to order a BRAND NEW!!! Badger Billionair, silent… and I CAN"T WAIT…i’ve looked forward to getting that thing for a while now and i’m tired of looking at the BEARAIR catalog everynight, and checking for UPS every afternoon,phew!.. i just needed to vent of some of the anticipation that i have built up,thanks

I started with a Werther 3 which is quiet enough for use indoors without anoying the rest of the household. Set me back about £100, so probably about $100 in the US!

Just bought a Revell Omega, which is a rebadge of the Werther Sil Air 15 Export, and this thing is totally silent.

I can sit at my desk with it running, and even I forget it’s switched on! The silent comps are more expensive, but from my experience the extra money is well worthwile.

I have basically the TC-20 without the tank. Is it possible to buy just a tank somewhere, run a hose from the compressor to it and put the regulator on the tank? I’m thinking it should be possible, but does anyone know where to find just a tank?

I’ve had my Central Pneumatic from Harbor Freight for close to a year now & I like it. It’s not very loud. about the same level as a fish tank pump[:)] I thougth it was a non-adjustable air flow until just recently[] Now that I’ve learned that, I might cut down on my paint wasting[(-D] Think the compressor ran me $60 bucks
