Since posting my thread about acrylic paint the response has been very favorable and positive. My wife had asthma and many years ago forbid me to use any type of enamel paint/thinner. Out of desperation I looked to my old paint box of acrylic paint (being an artist mind you) and decided that if I were to continue model building I had to find a better way. I did. Give it a try. All you will be out is a few bucks.

That’s what I did a few years ago. The constant 40% off Coupon at A.C.Moore is great, plus every once in a while their 3 for $1 sale is great. $10 gets you 30 large bottles. Takes a little while to search through all the shelves for the right colors, but it’s worth it.

I am one of the modelers here that bemoans the loss of the availability of " POLLY S " acryllics .I painted a MOSQUITO some years back with it .This was a brush job and I really liked the way it flowed and covered .No brush marks either ! .
That’s why I don’t like TAMIYA paints .They don’t brush worth a darn . I do use " CRAFT " acryllics now and they do alright . I like the brushability where needed and thats for like interior detailing etc .Overall , I also like the way it airbrushes in large jobs .I always coat my models with a thin coat of regular primer before hand though .
This way , if I missed a spot in sanding and filling (where needed ) then the primer helps me get it fixed BEFORE the final coats .I always spray the primer outside though . My landlady has severe allergies too .

There is a way to keep on using PollyScale paints,but, it is a bit of legwork
Match colors to the Railroad line, or at the very least, use the Railroad general paints for the basic colors you need
I use PS RR Acrylics for the basic Black, Red, White, and the metallics, etc. The 1 oz jars are cheaper than 2 of the 1/2 jars, saving a bit of money over the long run.
Another way to get Low cost paints with PollyScale workability is to go to the website over on HyperScale’s Plane Talking forum, that site posted in a thread sells Aeromaster paints (PS Formula) at very cheap prices,I was skeptical myself, but, I got 29 jars for $35-40 total a while back,and even if I don’t like a color or two, it is still hobby paint at Craft Acrylics prices
