Acrylic paint and thinners.

Hey fellow modelers;
I’m new to the hobby and have more(!) than a few questions. If I put them all on in one session I would be here for the rest of the month typing. I’m going to spray an F4F with Tamiya acrylic paint. What is recomended to thin the paint? I’ve been told by various people at various hobby shops that I need to use that company’s thinner. Also heard to just use water. Will Model Master Acryl Diluant Thinner or other companies’ thinners work?

i would reccomend the tamiya thinner as well. but, if you’re in a bind, i have sprayed it with half distilled water, half 50%alcohol with no ill effects. i broke down and bought the 250ml jug for around $8 and have thinned countless ounces of paint. its worth it. later

Thanks Saltydog

I just use 1 part 90% isopropyl alky per 3 parts paint, but I haven’t been using acrylic paint for very long at all. The ratio will vary with your airbrush, PSI and painting technique though.
