acrylic & enamel

Going to be putting down base coat of enamel , is it ok to put acrylic on top? Doing two tone camo on aflanker.

If the enamel base coat is fully cured, you should be ok. As a rule of thumb when using different types of paint you should test them on a scrap model or spare sheet of styrene. As it appears you are probably using flat based paints, the acrylic will probably adhere better than if you were applying it to a glossy surface. Hope this helps.

Thanks mike

acrylic over enamel is always ok, as mentioned above, make sure the enamel is fully cured first. You want to have something with some ‘tooth’ for the acrylic to bite down on, so a flat enamel might work out better. Otherwise, you risk the acrylic being able to work loose.

Always test on scrap. It is getting hard to make generalizations about compatibility these days, as more and more manufacturers go to really strange chemistry. What works with one brand may not with another. I have seen some really hot acrylic lacquers that will eat just about anything it is applied over.
