Can i use acrylic craft paints in my airbrush.
That depends on the paints and the airbrush, but as a general rule a definite maybe!
Properly thinned craft acrylics can be sprayed through most airbrushes, but would probably require a “coarse” needle/tip combination. The pigments used in those paints tend to be rather large.
The brand is craft smart thay where only 50 cent only[wow]
Most of those kind are of such low quality it is very hard to get them to spray half way decent.
what kind of paint should i use.I use a spray can to paint the big parts then the small i’m going to usethe air brush for touch up . I’m new to airbrushing. And been modeling for about 30 years.so i’m going to try something new in hope to step up to the next level so all the input would be very helpfull. P/s my wife will be trying to use the airbrush for the frist time.thanks again.
Robert,
For acrylics I would recommend Tamiya, Vallejo or one of the other quality paints out there.
If fumes are not a problem the Model Master enamel line is excellent.
Thanks mike for your input .How hard would it to use enamel paint .Do i have to mixes thinner with the paint. And how hard will the clean up be .I’ll will be spraying in my garage.
Yes you need to thin the paint and clean the airbrush with lacquer thinner.
If fumes are a problem in the garage then acrylics would be better for you, but they should not be inhaled either so you need some ventilation or a respirator when you paint.
So can i use testors paint out of the small bottles.I,msorry for all the questions.you,ll problem saying .Do I got to hold he,s hand too.I know I can be a pain in the rear.So thanks
Yes you can use those Testors paints also but they also need to be thinned and cleaned out of the airbrush with a strong cleaner like lacquer thinner or at least enamel thinner.
Both stink and you need ventilation.
Thanks mike for your help .let you know how my f14 tomcat come out .thanks
Sounds good Robert.
