Why did they go out of business?

I’ve heard lots of different versions but they have been reborn…

Yup, I understand they’re back in business. Which is a good thing, cuz those are some great kits, and I’m sure we’d all love to see more!

Yeah, I think that was about the only company that put the customers needs first. They were an outright BARGAIN when compared to the imports. They certainly have what I look for in a model ! ! !

The kits are actually amazing. I just picked up 2 of the avengers off EBAY and one had great boxart. The other was a re-package deal. Then, I had one from about 3 years ago when I first started. It was not finished and never will be. It will be a spare parts.

Speaking of kits, I just finished a Tamiya 1:48 Zero “Hank”. Talk about a very nice kit with a very nice set of instructions and great fit. I was very impressed. I don’t remember a kit being this nice. I am going to try some more Tamiya.

I did the zero with a grey overall scheme with the mottled jungle green on the top surfaces. It is beautiful. The way I acheived the mottle was to mix 1:1 jungle green and thinner, dip in my medium brush and splotch off about 75% of the paint. I then simply went along and dapped the surface of the model. It came out looking just like the instructions. I am impressed for once with something I have done.

Good for you ! I did a Hasegawa A6M3 Hamp in that scheme. Its really striking sitting next to the gray & green / gray birds !

Yep, they’re back in business. I spoke with them at an IPMS show a few weeks ago. They said there were some management problems that have since gone away. They own all the molds to their kits and are working on some revisions of older ones and also some new kits (they would’t tell!) But they are most assuredly back!

Keyworth _ That’s the BEST NEWS I’ve heard in a long while ! Now, how long do we have to wait . . .?

I have bought Accurate Miniuature kits from “militaryhobbies.com” out of Canada, they have a few of these kits on sale that come in a plain white box. Maybe some under $19.00

does anyone know the name of the company, is it still accurate and does it have a website?

The name of the company is “Accurate Miniatures” and the do have a website. Go to www.accurate-miniatures.com it is a great site with some nice info on the 1/48 Vindicator they are going to produce. Also check the “rumor control” section of the site for the latest info on distribution.

I think Accurate-Miniatures builds the best mass-produced kits on the market. I am so glad they are back. Their quality meets or exceeds any offerings from Tamiya or Hasegawa.

I still say they’re gonna do a Sikorsky R-4…
