Accurate Miniatures SBD-4 problem

Well, I’m working on the Accurate Miniatures SBD-4 (the New Zealand version) and ran into a problem. I had posted this on Hyperscale but didn’t receive any answers.

I got to Step 7 - Nose and Engine. Glued together B17R and B17L, glued them to the fuselage.

Got the guns installed on A6 (which is B6 in the written instructions) and installed on the fuselage.

Now, after gluing A4, A5, A83 together for the cowling, when I test fitted it to the intermediate cowling, I have this huge frickin’ gap between the two (so now I have a huge frickin’ gap theory). The gap is between the A6(B6?) part and the A4/B5/A83 parts.

Anyone else run into this? I checked the sprues and it’s not like I used the wrong parts for a different version.

Check the Accurate minuatures site there was a page about problems with the SBD’s I am not sure if it covers your problem in particular.

There were major FUBARs with the SBD kits. I had one. Took a few weeks and some parts from the factory to correct it all.

Thanks! I checked out their website and it did sound like there were some problems with the SBD, but thought it was just a mislabelling of the parts.

I emailed them last night but haven’t heard from the yet.

I can’t comment on the situation now but when I had my problem it took emails to Linda to get things corrected. Maybe all is better now at AM but if you find you have problems with communication email her directly. It turned out at the time that the general mail box was only periodically checked and had been avoided for some time. I never heard anything for weeks until I emailed Linda.

Thanks. I’ll give them a few days and if I don’t get an answer, I’ll give that a try.

The canopy sections do not fit inside each other when you opt for the open canopy version. The one piece canopy is alright.
