Just a few words, it’s a waste of money. It looks nice upon opening the box. BUT when test fitting the the wings to the fusalage, there’s a imho a very unacceptable gap where the upper wings join the fusalage, and the dihedral(spelling) is WAY off. In other word’s WHAT A PIECE OF CRAPPOLA. I should of stuck to Tamiya.[:(!]
Well, Tamiya doesn’t make a P-51A, so the AM kit is the only game in town for 1/48. I’ve built a couple without the problem you describe. Sounds like yours may be warped. Happens sometimes if the sprue is pulled out of the mold too quickly.
Regards, Rick
Actually, it’s not that bad. You can correct the dihedral/wing root gap by glueing the wing tops to the fuselage first then attach the wing bottom. Or if you glue the wing tops on the wing bottom first, attach one side of the wing to the fuselage fist, let it dry for a day, then bend and twist as necessary to get the other side to fit.

it really does build into a nice kit. And as Rick pointed out, Tamiya doesn’t make an “A” model.
Sounds like you got a bad batch. Accurate Miniatures is famed for their overall good quality and good fit for their model planes.
Mine also had the absurdly warpped wings - so I think Jeebus was right on that account
I agree you must have gotten a bad one I built this one and the A-36 no major problems.

I haven’t had problems with the two I’ve built either, and I have a third disguised as an F-6 that I plan to tackle sooner or later (or is it a Mustang Ior II? I get these things confused). Anyway, I’ve built several of the AcMin Allison Mustangs and haven’t had any significant fit problems (the nose section being the worst).
But then, after I learned rather late in life the simple trick of installing the lower wing section before the upper halves, I haven’t had nearly as many wing problems as before. And yet, model kit makers still insist on telling you to install the wings as one big assembly. I haven’t found one kit yet where that works better than the other method, though I’m sure there must be some out there.
And as for finding another P-51A in quarter scale, I’m afraid you’ll have to look to the fine old Koster/ Monogram P-51B conversion if you don’t want an AcMin kit.
Having said all that, and read the replies above, however, I notice how quick we are to knee-jerk defend AcMin, and I’m one of the worst offenders. They make mistakes. They don’t pull perfect kits from the molds every time, and I think we tend to be less critical of them than we are of other manufacturers, which is not good for the hobby in general. The reason, I suspect, is because we almost lost them a few years ago, and that would have been tragic.

I’ve got the kit in my stash. once i move out of this place I’m going to start it. Thanks for the heads up!
I have two that I have’nt gotten to yet. One of them even has lots of aftermarket goodies with it. I also have the A36 waiting to be built. As for the Koster conversions, I also have three of those but not quite enough Revellogram P51B kits yet. Myonly complaint with AM is that I can’nt afford anymore of their kits.Otherwise, I would aquire the Vendicator.[:D]
I had read several positive reviews before I picked one up last month. I haven’t built it yet, but I appreciate the early warning. Also, thank you wibhi 2 for the useful advice. I will be careful.
I like my F-6A. Fit problems with the radiator but that was probably my fault. Oh, and my cats name is Jeebus too.
