I’ve just got hold of a mint sealed kit of this car (#5004 Oscar Koveleski/Tony Adamowicz version) and was a bit disappointed when I read thru’ the instruction leaflet (if you can call a 40 page book a leaflet!!) to find that the you have to decide which way to display the model because of all the detail in it.
I would always want to have it displayed as seen on the track and have the option of removing parts as and when I wanted to do that to show it off differently - evidently this is not possible with this model.
On looking thru the ‘book’ it appears that it may be possible to make the rear wing removeable to allow the rear bodywork to be taken off if desired.
Has anyone tried this??? What would be the best way to display without having an ‘exploded’ model but still show how the car looked.
sorry about this one - if you haven’t seen this kit you probably won’t have a clue what I am talking about - hope someone has some input though.

Here is my solution, I have three of em, all will be displayed diffrentely, one ready to run, one with all panels off, and the other somewhere in between.

I don’t have the kit, but I remember reading the reviews about it. I also remember reading a review where the builder decided that he was going to make it work so that all of the parts could be used and displayed in either way. If I remember correctly, he seriously struggled and advised that it couldn’t be done.

Yes ,it can be, I just finished mine a couple months ago. What you need to do is remember as you are building that all the creepy crawlers (wiring and hoses) needs to be glued down so they dont stick up and interfere with the body panels fit. Then I used two small pieces of Milliput and molded them to fit over the rear spoiler supports then glued the other sides to the rear spoiler. This makes the spoiler able to either sit on its mounted position or come off for display. A little bit of sanding and fiddling with the panels will give them a tighter fit.

Thanks for rejuvinating this thread ‘dkmacin’ - however things ain’t as simple as they seem. I was told that this kit was a b***h and it is. At present it may turn out to be a ‘workshop queen’ as it back in the box while I temper my frustration with it. The rear wing support seems to have no relation to the part where it has to fit and | am considering making another up from soldered wire because there is no way that I can make the piece that I have fit as it should. Also the rear body support has a location on one side only which means that it won’t fit straight in any plane. Any ideas, Scott (Harv), how to get around these problems.???

Hard to believe this is an Accurate Miniatures kit isn’t it?
I have an old Auto Union McLaren C kit that has so much better fit and it was molded years ago!
Didn’t the AM McLaren kit suggest after market parts for a better fit of the body panels?
I’d like mine to be open, seems a shame to cover all the detail. . .

Built two small extensions (round ,about 1/3" in diameter,) with slots in them the same size as the wing support ends. As you mentioned the wing supports are not even at all so I placed the extensions over the supports then glued on the wing side only.
Making sure the wing was straight. (The supports are not) This makes the wing removable so you can remove it to see the engine compartment.
