Accurate Miniatures is back!

OK folks, this might be an old news for you (sorry, I am kind of slow in getting airplane model news). But in case you don’t know it, Accurate Miniature has returned. the new web site is: http://www.accurate-miniatures.com/ .

There will be a 1/48 SB2U Vindicator coming on the third quarter this year or early new year. For those P-40s lovers, Accurate Miniature only says it is on the drawing board( check it here http://www.accurate-miniatures.com/html/contact.htm ). Let’s hope and pray it comes out.

That is GREAT NEWS! Accurate Miniatures in my opinion produces some of the best kits I’ve ever built. I was saddened when they went under, I’m glad their back!

The return of Accurate Miniatures IS great news … Welcome Back AM !

I thought I was seeing things when … I was in my local hobby shop last week … and there on the shelf was that AM B-25B … the “Doolittle” kit that I somehow didn’t pick-up the first time around … I now have one!

why did the go under? some of there kits are kinda expensive, like $40 for a yak 1

From what I had heard(heard I said[:D]) that they ventured into Airliners. AM was going to do them in 1/72nd I think so most of the $$ went into design/molding ect.
I really dont remember seeing their 72nd airliner?? Well I am for one glad to see them back…!!!
Flaps up,Mike

I too am glad to see them back. Did not know about it until a few days ago. Found reference to their new website while looking for something else. Hope they are back to stay now. Would like to see them take their Allison-powered Mustangs just one step further - a Mustang Mk I with the 8 machine gun armament.

Jim

PS: Per Midnightprowler, would also like to see them do more cars. Specifically some 1960’s road race cars - Cobra, GT-40, Chaparral, etc.

I.m glad to see them back too. Their Corvette Grand Sport kit was awesome. I hope they plan on venturing back into cars.

Lee,

The web-site says they will be producing cars again.

I too am glad to see them return. I prefer to build “out of the box” with only my scratchbuilt items added, ( I just can’t/don’t want to pay for all the resin and PE) and Accurate Minatures makes the best kits for the type of build I want to do.

Kendall was the crowd that had ventured into 72nd airliners, not Accurate Miniatures. AM “went under” 'cuz it bit off more than it could chew, with a bit of bad luck along the way as well.

They’ve been “back” for quite some time now, it’s just their website that’s recently risen like a Pheonix out of the ashes. Good thing too, they have great potential as a manufacturer. Let’s just hope they can keep their heads above water this time. I’m eagerly awaiting the P-40(s) and a 48th Sikorsky R-4. [:p]

Oh, as regards car models; can you say “Lola T70”? Say it together friends… “Looooola”… [:p]

Wait, this is the things with wings forum…

Fade to Black…

Blackwolfcds,

Several T70s had “wings” added to them! However I think the intention was somewhat different than those on aircraft.

Yep,

AM would do a NICE T70! Like to see them take a crack at the GT40 too!

Rick[:D]

MK IV,

Yeah, after I posted that I thought about wings on cars… oh well, c’este la vie!

A GT-40 would be too cool, wouldn’t it? Though after exchanging thoughts with Joe Myers (I half-jokingly suggested a new Porsche 917) he mentioned the murderous licensing fees, and I fear that securing the rights to box a Ford would be no easier. [:(] Especially with the current “new” GT-40’s being marketed.

We’ll have to settle for the old Monogram kit, I suppose. But it ain’t that bad a model, is it? Just gotta find some decent decals and I’ll be all set! You know who makes markings for Gurney’s #2? Fred Cady, perhaps? And I hear lotsa bad things about his decals, true or no?

(We go any further here, we’ll have to move this over to the Auto forum! [:p])

Fade to Black…

By the way, MK IV,

You say you “know” Fitter, (I had/have some suspicions in a couple directions), were you also a member of the IPMS club when the meetings were in DW’s basement?

Also, I think I may have called Fitter by the wrong first name in a post sometime back. Is it Ron or Rick? My memory is going to pot! And, does your last name begin with the same letter as Fitter’s and with the same number of letters? My curiosity is peaked now.
