I’m currently looking at getting one of the Academy UH-1C 1/35 Helo’s. I was looking at the Eduard photoetch sets to go with them - especially 32093 (Uh-1C Huey Armament) and it shows parts to add to pylon mounted gattling or mini guns, but the only 2 Academy Hueys I’ve seen are the Heavy Hog and the Frog, which both have types of Pylon mounted rockets. Do these kits come with a choice to arm them with mini guns, or is there another kit out there that I have not seen yet ?
Adam.
The Frog kit has the parts to model the pylon mounted miniguns (no instructions on how to assemble them), but the Heavy Hog only has the box shaped rocket packs and a 40mm grenade laucher in the nose.
Thanks alot adrake.
Have you built these yet ? Are they good kits ?
Adam.
I’ve got built the Heavy Hog twice and have both kits in their boxes. I must admit though that I only bought the Frog for its vinyl minigun ammo chutes for a MH-60L I was working on. The kits are awesome. Without a doubt, the best Huey kits available in any scale.
You can see also for the minigun the resin kit “legend productions”, with two xm21 in it,
and bought 12 syringe’s needles, to do the six barrels of minigun 7.62 mm. Moreover, i advise you to fing the book of squadron signal about “huey in action”, it’s very interresting. I’m building a Frog and a heavy hog, with eduard sets, it’s the best kit i ever seen.
The “Frog” kit comes with “all” the armament available in the other kits. Mini-gun, 40 MM, 7 shot, 19 shot and 24 shot box type rocket tubes. The “Gunship” kit with the decals for the “Musket’s” has the minigun kit only w/7 shot rocket pods. Note, no kit had the correct sights for the 40 MM system. Otherwise it’s a great kit and the best of any Huey on the market.
I’m in the middle of doing a “HEVY HOG” and I strongly recommend the Eduard interior 32086. I’ve put it in mine and it really looks good.
