I am going to build a P-47N soon and I have both the Academy and Revel in the stash…which is a better kit? I would think the Academy is but sometimes the Revels are more fun to build…Thoughts?
i built the academy kit as my first P-47N and it was a great kit. it needed almost no filling and had a good amount of detail.
Here she is:
I agree with Airborne, the Academy went together extremely well. Although I have no experience with the Monogram N to compare it to, only the their D razorback and bubbletops.

I built the ProModeler N and it wasn’t a bad build, though I don’t like the way they did the landing gear as the struts have to be installed when the wings are assembled. I think there were some fit issues with the guns. Here is a link to my build log:
This is really helpful, thank you guys. I have Revel P-47N and C and I have an Academy P-47N and D…I think I should just build them all at the same time and save myself from the debate ![]()
Thanks for sharing your pics, it’s encouraging me to get started!
Glad to see you liked the Promodeler kit John, the thing gave me fits. The seam line in the flaps was a PITA to fix. I think my kit is about 77.54% putty by weight. Still can’t argue with the sharp results you got there!
Rob, since you’ve got the kit you might as well build it, still if I had to build a second P-47N I’d go with the Academy offering. The Promodeler kit I guess was ok, but I don’t think I want to build another again.
i got both offerings and the revell kit was a total dog. wing root gap was a total pain to correct. turned it into scrap plastic. some may have had better experience then me.
