academy m2 bradley in 1/35

this was my oob fun build. not too much info on the vehicle. it has generic markings and a sand color scheme.

i hope the depth shows. the wash i did has a nice depth to it. i did a pin was on all the raised detail. the interior of the ramp will be painted od as per some advice given.

thanks for looking.

joe

Its a good start. The pre-shading doesn’t look right to me, but I personally don’t like the whole pre-shading technique.

Now on to details. First off, the roadwheels should have a black outer edge on them, they are rubber lined. The antennas and their bases should be dark green. Like the rear ramp, the interior of all other hatches should be dark green as well. The ammo boxes on the turret side and rear, and the rear left side of the hull (in the basket) should all be dark green. All of the vision blocks should be gloss black with a thin coat of clear red over them to replicate the anti-laser coating. The vision blocks on the rear of the hull are on backwards, they are currently facing in, the should face out towards the back. The exhaust outlet and its guard are missing as well. The coax MG and the main gun should both be pointing in the same direction, they are linked together. Lastly, the tail lights should be red on the upper half with two black slits below as well. Testors stop light red clear works great fro the red lights. The front turn signals should be similar to the rear, only in amber clear and with one black slit below.

Like I said, good start. With a few corrections and some more detail painting, it will look great.

One final note, as you have built it, with the closed gun ports on the sides of the hull, it better represents an M3A0 CFV (Cavalry Fighting Vehicle). However, to be an accurate CFV, the interior layout would need to be changed.

you know arty, i only noticed a few of the corrections, and as i was reading your post, i was hoping i would catch something you overlooked. [BH] not the case, your on it man, sharp as ever.

anyway, joe, it looks like your having fun building the kit and that is what matters the most. i won’t even go into how my sherman looked about a month ago, lets just say i’m still trying to work all the gigs out. if you fix those minor overlooked issues, your on your way to a great lookign bradley. Well Joe, looks like we have a Bradley designer in our midst, who knew, right? I really like your shading technic, it really sets it apart from just a strait coat of yellow and you pulled it off nicely. I am guessing you had a hard time finding good interior reference pictures, so you did the best you could. Nice work!

I can’t comment on the model (looks good to me) but I can comment on the quality of the pic’s. Wish more were as good as yours…Kenny

The pre shading and weathering look good to me. I think you did a bang up job on both the model, and the photography.

Cheers.!

let me first say thankyou to all who looked in.

gino thanks for the tips. i should have stated right off i know nothing about the bradley. all i know is what i had seen in the in action book and online. some of the things i can redo others i cannot.

rooster thanks for looking in.

iyaayas the interior pics i have show the mint green but not much as the way of detail shots. i did get some late in the process that showed me some good detail but by then i had progressed beyond that step.

spacepacker thanks for the kind words. the pics are not as good as i would like but they work.

mike thanks i appreciate it.

now let me clarify something. i dont want this build to turn into a “criticism” war of words. i appreciate what has been said and will learn from it. i thank those who chose to post. if all that would have been posted was great job again i would have appreciated the fact those people looked. funny thing about advice that is given. either the reciever can accept it or disregard it. it is up to the reciever.

again thanks all for looking in i really do appreciate it.

Hey Joe!

How was this Academy kit overall? I have found one for about $12 and was wondering if it is worth it. I have never built the Bradley so rather than investing close to $40 for the newer ones, I’m thinking about getting this one and just build it as a test run. Yours came out fairly nice.

The Academy kit is pretty good. It is a direct copy of the original Tamiya M2. It is about the same mold quality, but the details are a little softer. The track is incorrect in that they molded the pads 180 degrees reversed on the track blocks, but this is only noticeable if you really know the track.

The decals are pretty generic and no interior placards or any other interior decals are included (Tamiya had interior decals in theirs). It is well worth the money for an early Bradley though.

Gino,

Thanks for the info!

thanks gino. sorry m1 work day. i liked the kit overall. for someone who knew nothing about the subject there was a ton of detail.

Glad to see your still working on armor Joe. With the advice that you’ve gotten, I’m sure it will be a piece you’ll be proud of.

eric thanks. i will continue to do armor. got some shermans in the stash.

Very nice job on the Bradley , Joe. Since I have no idea on the fixes, I can only comment on what I see.
