Academy M-51 Super Sherman 99% done

This is basically my entry to the Sherman Family Group build. It is from the Academy 1/35 Super Sherman kit and I built OOB (as expected of me I guess,[;)]). I painted and weathered it using Tamiya acrylic paints. The kit came with good decals but I decided to hand paint the markings for realistic effects. I enjoyed doing the kit as it posed almost no majpr problems.

I would just like to share this with the rest of the guys to solicit some inputs and comments.

I finished (well almost) this last night. However, I am still planning to install a pennant at the tip of the antenna. And I would like to ask for suggestions. The box art showed something like an olive drab or khaki pennant but I am not so sure. I used a thin wire as guy wires for the antenna. Not so straight though and I may still do something about it later.

Anyway, I may be putting this shermie on the shelf for awhile before any more additions will be done on it. I will be a bit busy with the finishing works for the new house.

Anyway here she is as photographed last night.[;)]

With the background sanitized (he-he-he).

I had to look at this again, Dwight.

You do beautiful work, and this is one of your best!

Regards, Dan

Sweet ride maybe a jack ball as the antena topper(lol)

SWEET!!!

Sweet build Dwight !!!

Looks great from all angles !!

Thanks for the nice words guys. I appreciate it very much. Thanks for the cool tip on the antenna topper, too.

Do you think a small Israeli flag would be fine?

I think a small Israelian flag would top it off nicely, Dwight. I found a picture of IDF
tanks with colored pennants and I added a yellow one to mine.

Regards, Dan

Well, the box art showed something like a khaki pennant. It could have been yellow. I’ll try making a small Israeli flag. Thanks for the tip.

Great job Dwight. Weathering looks great… Since you have to put it on the shelf for a while how long does that mean we got to go without seeing any more work from you?

Great job, Dwight. Nice looking Sherman!

galing mo pareng Dwight!
looks really good!
look at those bags really tied up there. how can you do that Dwight?
any tips?

Gary:

Salamat. (Thanks)

I glued strips of tin foil (as straps) to the bags. Once they have permanently joined with the bag, I painted them bent them to the desired shape (hooked). I then just hung the bag using the tin foil straps. Then once the bags are in place I just adjusted the bend of the straps to conform with the shape of the bars. When doing this (bending) some paint will chip off from the tin foil. Retouch as necessary.

Super Super Sherman you’ve got there Dwight! Looks great!
Good thing they don’t have many trees in Israel, that barrel overhang would be a major pain in the woods!
Great looking photos too.

thanks Dwight! learned something from you again!
i’ll try to do that nice tip on my models.

Leopold: Thanks for the kind words. This one does have a huge gun.

Gary: No problem. Glad to help when able to.

You’re a true artist with both computers, and plastic Dwight. I like the photograph staring down that long barrel. It sure don’t look OOB.

Dwight, this is off-topic but have you been to festival mall lately?
i was there yesterday and i saw this 1/15 bandai rc tanks. there are selling it for 11,995 pesos. the good thing is, they slashed 50% off the price!
have you seen that model? it’s at wonder toys store, displayed just at the door, two big boxes left. you might wanna check it out, just forgot what tanks. as far as i can remember, it’s a german and allied tank.
are they any good? i know bandai company makes those gundam figures.
