Academy/Legend Conversions Israeli Mag'Ach 7

Purchased for under half the original price! I don’t usually do resin or PE, but for US$45 I couldn’t pass up a chance to build this great Israeli tank.

The kit is the Academy M60 Blazer kit with the Legend Conversions Magach 7 set. The Magach or Mag’Ach series of Israeli tanks are all variations of the M48/M60 series of tanks. This particular one uses the M60 chassis and turret with a lot of add-on armor.

.

How is that legend conversion going I myself bought the legends produtions 1982 centurion conversion for the tamiya kit haven’t started the project yet though but I’m deafently looking forward to it though keep us informed.

Well, the only really upsetting thing about this bad-boy is the lack of definite instructions for the resin and PE stuff. I got one sheet (one-sided too) of black and white pictures with superimposed part numbers and arrows. Pretty sketchy.

Fortunately, I received a HUGE amount of help over at the : http://idf-armour-group.org/groupforum/index.php?act=idx forums and they really sent me in the right direction for this kit.

Other than the lack of a guide, the parts are well cast and the PE is excellent. Really am waiting on the finished item now. Should be able to shoot a coat of paint this weekend.

UPDATE:

Found a lot of changes that had to be made due to the help/curse of Kjeld Pederson at the IDF Armor forums. So I removed a lot of detail and then after reworking, here we are. I need to finish up the intercom box and add smoke launcher details and then it will be ready for paint.

UPDATE:

Not finished, but initial paint and some weathering are done.

Wow! That looks great . It is really coming along. I’ve wonderd about Legends conversions. I’m going take another look at them now.

Boy, that aft turret storage rack looks like an assemblers nightmare Shane! You’re doing just a beautiful job, and it certainly will be a fine example of Israeli innovation with armour. Thanks for the updated pictures. Semper Fi, mike

Thanks ya’ll. Hard to believe that is all on an M60 chassis and turret huh?

[:D]very nice build,great work.[:D]

UPDATE and COMPLETE(sorta):

For some reason when I applied the Dull Coat, everything got rather shiny. Pretty angry about that. I even checked the can again and reapplied. No avail. The figure looks terrible because of that, but I am ready to work on something else now so I will touch it up later after everything has had a few days to cure and set up nicely.

Ammo box and tent roll in bustle are scratchbuilt. The other stowage comes from various sources.

Figure is Verlinden. Must say, the more I use their figures, the more I like them. Excellent detail and takes paint and detail well. Highly recommended.

The Legend kit however, has some pretty big issues. Mostly with the lame instructions. One sheet (photocopied) leaves alot to be desired when doing resin work. Much, much time spent on the internet looking for reference pictures. Thanks much to http://idf-armour-group.org/groupforum/index.php?act=idx and special thanks to Kjeld Pederson for his excellent links and help with real vehicle conversions.

Ok FSM forum gang… pick it apart.

I hate when that happens. That happens to me sometimes. If you ever find out what causes that let us know.[:)]
I think it turned out great. I love the dusting. I tried that on a merkava, it turned out chunky. Yours looks very smooth.[tup]

Looks great. Especially like the shades on the figure. Bryan
