Academy 1/48 P-47D

I finished this P-47 about the same time as the F-4E that I posted a couple of days ago. True Details cockpit, Cutting Edge decals, Alclad 1 and Alcald 2 paints. Another one that sit around for about 3 years before I got it finished. Now to get the 1/32 F-86F finished which I started about 2 years ago.

I have to say, you do some GREAT work

Bud

Thanks Bud !!!

Nice looking Jug. The Alcad came out great.

Nice… real nice!

Looks good. I think the alclad finish turned out great. very nice.

Wow, Jerry! That came out great. I ditto t he comments on the Alcad…very smooth finish. You’ve put out some geat ones lately…I look forward to the Sabre.

[#ditto]looks good.

Very nice work. One to be proud of for sure

I’ll echo what these fellas are saying. Nice effort! But I must ask. What is the difference between Alclad I and II???

Very nice work! That’s a good looking Thunderbolt- well done.

Alclad I was the original formulation which was replaced a few years ago with the Alclad II formula. I never used the first version, but I’ve heard it had some problems. Alclad II is a great paint & all I use anymore for NMF.

Jerry, nice build BTW. Well done !

Regards, Rick

Really Nice work. If I only had the nerve to try any metal finish. One of these days.

Ah thank you, Rick. I often wondered what that II stood for. Now I know! And knowing is half the battle!

GO JOE!!!

K5 - Thanks for sharing. That plane is awesome.

RedMax…Alclad 1 was orignally created by a guy from California. EPA laws forced him to move to Idaho. After that he went out of business but the formulas went on to someone else and they came out with Alcald 2. Alclad 1 did have its problems but in some ways I kind of liked it better than Alcald 2. Anyway I still have a large bottle of Alclad 1 Alumn. so I use it here and there along with Alclad 2 and MM Metalizers with Floquil Old Silver thrown in on occasion.

Thanks to all above for the comments. Warms an old mans heart. [swg]
