Does anyone have any opinions on the Academy Wirbelwind Flakpanzer IV Quad 20mm?Im thinkinkg about getting this kit-OPINIONS PLEASSE!

I have not had a chance to build it yet, But I have heard that the kit has bad fit and some other probs. Its a rebox of something, Maybe the old old tamiya kit?
I built one about two years ago, I had a few small problems with this kit. The front face of the turret had a really bad fit. Lots of putty and sanding to fix. The hull and upper deck dont fit right if you use the attachment pieces in the kit. I think those were used on the motorized version so you could remove the hull from the deck. Just don’t use them. The instructions are a little unclear. (The rear hull plate assembly in particular) And I had to shave off a good deal of the ammo loader’s butts to get them to fit in the turret! But since this kit is usually only $20.00 bucks or so, I consider it a good kit ! It’s a fun build, go for it ![:)]
Note that many old Academy kits are loose knock-offs of very old Tamiya kits. Their PzIV series, Centurian, M10 (old one, boxed in Minicraft boxes) and M36 (also their old one, boxed in Minicraft boxes), and 1/25th Panther A and JPanther kits spring to mind.
So, your getting a cheaper copy of an old, outdated kit.
even the new Tamiya Wirbelwind has the old Tamiya turret and gun in it with the New Panzer 4 hull
