I was browsing another website forum today and came across a recent entry stating that Academy was planning to release a 1/35 M551 Sheridan in the 4th quarter of this year (around now) I was like HOLY $#t! [:0] I have been waiting for a Sheridan for some time since the Jaguar resin kit went out of production.[xx(]
Does anyone have information about this model? or when it is coming out? I am (literally) dying to know more. [:)] [^]
It was supposed to be out earlier this fall, but it looks like it has been delayed. The kit will be a Desert Storm version. I am as excited about this kit as you are, I just hope they bring it out soon.
Do you know anything else about the kit? Wow, that means it is a recent version of the tank. Not one from Vietnam. Oh, I didn’t know it was delayed. I e-mailed Academy models the other day ans they still haven’t replied to me. Hmmm…what does that mean?[censored]
I just picked up a Tamiya M551 from greatmodels for fifeteen dollars. It’s a bit skimpy on detail but it has great potential, and for that price it seemed worth taking the effort to make something of it. Semper Fi, mike
I think you’re right Jason! I’m usually a day late and a dollar short on those hard to find kits. I’m also looking for a Duster M42 that Tamiya used to produce. Kind of want one to remind me of my time at a place called Dong Ha, we used them for perimiter defense.

Mike,
I thought I found your Tamiya Duster at Militaryhobbies.com and it is in stock, but it looks like an old page that soomehow still exists. When I go to their site, it isn’t listed, but when I searched “Tamiya Duster in stock” at yahoo, I found a cached page with it> Sorry to get your hopes up
I found one at a LHS but they wanted a ridiculous $36 for it and I told them they were nuts I know it is a rare kit but not worth that much in my opinion.
Thanks for looking out for me guys. I’ll most likely hold out for the AFV kit that Jason mentioned. It no doubt will have a few more refinements then the old Tamiya kit. I know it’s off subject but The Army had these at Dong Ha back in 1966 as part of our defensive perimiter, and let me tell you, they were awesome when the shooting started.
The marines had the Ontos also, and that was a bad boy in action. Sorry to get off the script that happens with us old vets. Later guys. Semper Fi, mike
I have always wanted to do a Sheridan and an Ontos. A really good friend of mine’s father was in the 'Nam (CB) and he really loved having the Ontos around when it got nasty.
