Academy 1/32 F18 Build

Hi everyone,
I have added the first part to the Academy 1/32 F18 Hornet build, follow the link at the bottom of the web page.

Any suggestions gladly received, as this is my first time atempting something like this.

Andy - I just love opening these kits for the first time and seeing all those zillions of parts! Had that feeling when I first laid eyes on my 1/32 A-10. Thanks for the look-see and I’ll be interested in your progess!! Any plans for aftermarket parts? I see Cutting Edge has some nice cockpit sets for this kit or do you feel the kit is sufficiently detailed?

The cockpit is very well done with the exception of the equipment bay behind the pilot. I am going to use the Cutting Edge Cockpit (waiting for it now), I hear it is very well detailed, with an open equipment bay.

I think I am going to do this one with the radome open and the equipment bay behind the seat open in an effort to show the aircraft being checked over. Problem i think is going to be finding a base large enough, depicting a modern carrier deck.

You’ll love that Cutting Edge cockpit! I got the one for the Trumpeter A-10 and it’s beautiful! Those guys do their homework…

Are you modeling it gears-up, or gears-down? I prefer my models in flight, personally!

I like to do my aircraft on the ground, the cockpit in this kit will be just to detailed to hide with a pilot.

I am working on a thundergbirds F-16 in flight for my wife, working on an idea I saw for displaying it in flight.

In the beginning of May this year, our club held NOREASTCON 2003, the IPMS Region 1 Convention.

There was a built-up Academy Hornet done by Ed Kinney at the show, pretty nicely done. BIG SOB!

Anyhoo, here’s a shot and I hope it acts as a little inspiration…

Fade to Black…

I have added a couple of pics of the Cutting Edge (Late) cocpkit to the web site.
