Just a quick visit to the dark side to post some pics of my Jagdpanther. Supposed to be a late '44 version without zimmerit. Sprayed in a mottled green/brown over dark yellow with an Badger Renegade Velocity, ( low pressure/paint squeezed/close range). Weathering with oil washes and Mig pastels:
I bet this looks even better up close, not to mention the size in 1/24.
The only thing missing that gets my attention is the lack of the bare metal wear (steel) on the sides of the inner road wheels and the rear idler, this is an issue that is often missed on this particular model.
Overall I like the final results, especially the wear you have included on certain areas such as the side skirts.
What a nice build, you got a really nice colour going there and some fine weathering to boot. Very nice indeed.
I’ve been on a bit of a Panther mission lately; I’ve just finished Dragon’s 1/35 Panther G with Zim and am just starting Tamiya’s 1/35 Late Version Jagdpanther. My new JP WIP thread is just below this thread.
Is there anything you can do to get some PE grille material for the intake housings to use as covers? The Dragon kit came with a full PE fret with everything on it but the Tamiya kit had no grilles. They sell the grills as a separate item so I’ve got them on order - imo the Panther needs them grill covers!
Hi there Disastermaster, nice to see that that you remember my rather dreadful builds [;)] Had some problems with work and health and dropped off screen until December. Did a 6 month build of Revells Tirpitz on the ship forum. I should have remembered that one member of this forum would go over the JP build with a fine toothcomb. Yes, guilty, I missed the steel inner wheels, I’ll correct that one. Nice to hear from you again.
Hi Ben, yes, have been lurking and watching your build. Like the camo you chose and I am curious how the weathering works to pull it all together. No, I am not going after PE grilles, i am starting a build of Fujimi’s IJN Haruna in 1/350th and it cost nearly an arm and a leg, (and another arm and a leg), so the grilles will forever stay a wish.
A few more paint chips with out the lighter halos & horizontal scrapes will go a long way to add realism. I know AM stowage is probably non existence in this scale, a few scratch built items like a wood crate & camouflage netting will enhance this excellent tank you built.
You’ve been away a while Grem but nice to see you back here on the dark side! Nice work on the larger-scale JP, the mottle camo came out looking just right IMHO. [B]
Yep that’s right buddy. I’ve got the Panther 1/35 grill set on back order but have been waiting for over a month now. Obviously I’ve asked about but everyone is saying the same thing - the Tamiya importers are out of stock.
I’m surprised That Tasca didn’t chuck in a PE grill set though?
I’m in no hurry, when they turn up I’ll stick 'em on! I do want them though as you wouldn’t have seen a panther or variant of the Panther without these grills. Imagine the amount of crud that would have got sucked into these ports otherwise!
Nice JP btw-lovely colour and weathering [Y] I’m going to have to build one of these Tasca kits. I quite fancy the Firefly (1/35) and the Panzer II in 1/24 too. I’m looking to build an Allied machine this year and I think the Tasca Firefly will be it!
I’ve got a Dragon 1/35 Panzer I and have seen the 1/35 Panzer II’s and they are pretty small. The Panzer I is actually no bigger than some of my 1/48 builds! I think a 1/24 Panzer II would be nice and I hope they bring out a 1/24 Panzer I too.
Nice to see big model in my lovely scale, espacially great like Your model is .
Small correct on the begging - Tamiya/Academy panthers and jagdpanthers are in 1-25 scale .
Somethimes on e bay You can find 1-24 scale Jagdpanther ,its model with full interior by Bandai .
I never see PE kits by Tamiya to this model, but for sure are available kits by Aber.I`m sure ,because I struggled Aber company that released these sets .If You plane to build 1-24 Tasca model please wait for PE kits too and visit 1-25 SAF .There is shop with all rare acccesssories at one place what we need to our 1-25 scale models , just for hobby.Unfortunelly today are not available PE kit to panther /jagdpanther like tracks, fenders, skirts ,claims etc but I wait for new edition.
