Can anyone give me a good refrernce/site to find detail kits for this model…will a tamiya detail set work for an acadamy model?

I’m in the middle of trying to cram an Eduard PE set for the Tamiya kit into the Academy 1/72 “bubbletop” kit. It’s a mixed bag: some parts fit with minimal fuss, some don’t, and some can’t even be used without making extensive modifications to the kit (which I am doing… scratchbuilt wheel bays, etc… progress is not quick on this one!).
At one time Eduard did make PE sets specif to the Academy 1/72 P-47s. I think that they may be out of production, but you may be able to score one.
Aires, along with their Quickboost line, makes several resin sets specifically for the Academy P-47s. They come with some PE parts in a couple of cases. I am using the Quickboost engine on this one - it’s the best peice of resin I’ve ever used, and it is literally a drop-in fit.
