Does anyone know of a detail set for an M1/M1A1 etc. that includes a bustle rack. Media isn’t important to me. Thanks in advance. [8]
The Verlinden kit M1 Abrams Update and Inerior Set includes the bustle rack, but one kit part from the Tamiya or Academy M1A1 is required (D17). Presumably, this same part from any other M1A1/A2 could be used as well.
Or are you talking about an add-on bustle rack as seen in the current OIF photos?
I’m talking about the bustle rack we put on our M1s in the mid 80’s. They weren’t IP M1s, but we field fit bustle racks that were the same as the M1A1’s we got later had.
Your cheapest option for a full bustle rack would be to buy one of the Trumpeter M1A1 or M1A2 kits. They usually are listed for less than $20 which makes it cheaper than any aftermarket Abrams detail set. Besides, the detail sets tend to be designed to enhance the rack and not necessarily replace the rack.
Are you starting with the original Tamiya M1 Abrams kit to make your M1IP?
Thanks Major. I kind of arrived at that conclusion. I bid on a cheap Trumpeter on ebay, but the seller got yanked. Good luck for me I guess. Yes, I’m starting with the old Tamiya M1. A little laziness on my part, but once in another thread you mentioned how you make the road wheel hubs look more like the real ones, can I get you to explain that again? Thanks again.
