About the Trumpeter Challenger II

Greetings… I’ve just purchased this kit ( Trumpeter 00308)… I know that the kit have a lot of innaccuracies that have been fixed in the 00323 and 00345 kits… but it’s still a nice kit… well, a large decal sheet is provided, but only the Kosovo markings are needed (really few)… I have some questions:

If I want to make the Kosovo version: what colors must I use?.. One of them is olive drab, but the other is a mix… is that correct?

I think that the OTAN camo scheme is really nice and I want to paint my Challenger II that way… I supose the colors are Black/Military Brown/European Green… is that correct?.. but what about the markings?.. can I use some of the kit provided?.. do you have some photos of the Challenger II in this camo scheme?..

Well… so many questions… thanks in advance.

Hi Zero Enna

I would use Humbrol #75 and #33 for the colours on a Kosovo Challenger II and for reference pics I would try here

From my research, I have concluded that the British armoured divisions stationed in Europe don’t include the brown part of the camo pattern - it is just the green & black. Sorry I can’t comment on the markings. I was on the path for colouring.

I also bought that kit then cursed Trumpeter because immediately after that they released the Operation Telic Challenger 2 which I then bought too. You are right. That kit has a lot of flaws like the staggered wheels, wrong angle of the back panel, horrendous wheel molding, etc…etc…etc. Good thing they corrected it on the Op Telic Challenger 2. I saw a website that instructs you on how to correct most of the mistakes, except the mishapen road wheels of course. i will try to post the address here later. Regarding the paint scheme, the British Army has always used a 2-tone color scheme of dark green and black ( I leave it to others for the specific colors). They do no use the NATO 3-tone colors.
